This Privacy Policy explains how Forksy (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Forksy mobile app (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. Questions? Email support@forksy.app.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
When you sign up we collect your email address (or Apple ID identifier if you use Sign in with Apple), an optional display name, and an optional avatar.
1.2 Location
With your permission, the App accesses your device’s approximate or precise location to find restaurants near you and to support Couples Mode. Location data is used in real time to query the Foursquare Places API and stored alongside your swipes. Location is never sold or shared with advertisers. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
1.3 Activity data
- Swipes (like, dislike, super-like) and the place they reference
- Reviews and ratings you write
- Couples sessions you create or join
- Push-notification tokens
1.4 Device data
For diagnostics and abuse prevention we receive standard mobile telemetry: device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and an anonymous device identifier.
1.5 Subscription / payment data
If you purchase Forksy Plus, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment card. Entitlement signals (active / expired) come via RevenueCat, our subscription provider.
1.6 Advertising identifiers
Free-tier users see banner ads served by Google AdMob, which may process your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android). We request non-personalized ads by default. You can limit or reset this identifier in your device settings.
2. How we use your information
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Show nearby restaurants and remember the ones you’ve already seen
- Match you with your partner during Couples Mode
- Send push notifications you opt into
- Operate the subscription and (for free users) the ad service
- Detect abuse and improve the App
We do not profile you for purposes other than the ones above. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Data retention
- Account + profile — kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an account-deletion request.
- Swipes + reviews — kept while your account is active.
- Couples sessions — auto-expire 24 hours after creation.
- Cache — up to 30 days, contains no personal data.
- Crash and diagnostic logs — typically 90 days.
5. Your rights
You can access, correct, and delete the data we hold about you, and withdraw consent for location, notifications, and tracking at any time. Email support@forksy.app from your account address — we respond within 30 days. EU/EEA residents can lodge a complaint with their national data protection authority. California residents have CCPA rights; we do not sell personal information.
6. Children
Forksy is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us data and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use TLS in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and least-privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong password and report any concerns.
8. International transfers
Forksy operates from the European Union. Some service providers process data in the United States. We rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent mechanisms for those transfers.
9. Changes
Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. The page’s “Last updated” date always reflects the current version.
